Abstract
The Indian sweets and snack industry has held a,prominent position in India’s FMCG and Food Processing Sector, blending the nation with the taste of contemporary culture. Various products such as Mithai (sweets) and Namkeen (savory snacks) have been integral to Indian culture, more specifically in the West regions. They symbolize hospitality, Indian culture, festivities and everyday indulgence. However, despite the presence, this industry has faced significant challenges while expanding into International Markets. With a rising Indian diaspora and interest in ethnic flavors, the demand for Indian snacks and sweets have surged dramatically. Yet, the problem lies where the small-scale,producers, such as the Gruh Udyogs struggle to compete due to logistical issues, limited awareness and regulatory barriers. In India, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006, as modified, defines the turnover criteria for establishing a Micro, Small, or Medium Enterprise (MSME). → The report provides the turnover criteria where a company is classified as Micro, Small, or Medium in the MSMED Act, 2006, modified as follows. Below are the current turnover thresholds for MSMEs: 1. Micro Enterprise: - Maximum investment in plant, machinery, or equipment: ₹1 crore. - Annual turnover: Up to ₹5 crore. 2. Small Enterprise: - Investment in Plant, Machinery, or Equipment: Up to ₹10 Cr. - Annual turnover: Up to ₹50 crore. 3. Medium Enterprise: - Investment in Plant, Machinery, or Equipment: Up to ₹50 crore. - Annual turnover: Up to ₹250 crore. Turnover is the aggregate revenue earned by the, enterprise in a financial year. Export Revenue Exclusion: The turnover will be computed after excluding export revenue to motivate MSMEs to expand globally. MSMEs are required to get Udyam Registration for availing the various incentives, subsidies, and credit support extended by the Government. These requirements apply to both manufacturing and service businesses. To be eligible, both investment and turnover must fall under the category's stipulated criteria.
