Abstract
The gig economy is revolutionizing the modern labor market by providing flexible opportunities for global workers to participate in various projects. Students are also significant contributors to this change, as they increasingly demand the ability to gain experience, master skills, and earn money at the same time. At the same time, startups need to acquire affordable and high-quality talent to support their growth. Despite this natural correlation, there is still a significant mismatch. A lack of trust, institutional support, and organized platforms between the two groups leads to mutual distrust, which affects their relationship. In this study, we present a scalable business model within Work It, a model that can bridge the gap in trust and accessibility between student volunteers and the culture of start-ups. The research uses primary data from student surveys and interviews with start-up founders, as well as secondary data on trends in the on-demand economy and platform-based labor markets. The results show that students are very interested in freelancing but are underutilized due to a lack of awareness, uncertainty about whether they should be paid, and credibility issues. On the other hand, start-ups face risks associated with quality assurance and reliability. The data analysis focuses on the demand for social networks built on experience, a strong brand reputation, and an empowered platform, and that have well-organized verification. The suggested model makes Work It an effective mediator that enhances transparency, builds trust, and promotes effective cooperation. By combining digital offerings and institutional resources, the platform will focus on tapping into the currently underdeveloped student freelancer market and serve as a provider of startup talent, building on a win-win ecosystem.
