For students who may be interested in a BA Honours degree in History or in Philosophy, History and Languages (PHL) at the School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University.
In this video, high school students from across India participated in a webinar on: Why should we study history? Students interacted with Professor Maya Jasanoff of Harvard University, and Ahmedabad University history faculty members. They asked questions about the prospects of doing history at an undergraduate level. Contrary to commonly held misconceptions about history, the discussion centred around the exciting field of historical study based on scientific enquiry, analysis of events and processes, and facts and interpretation. The skillset that students gain while doing a history degree prepares them for exciting career opportunities in academia, research, journalism, policy, publishing, banking and corporate business, museums and archives, the government sector, and NGOs.
