Abstract
This paper provides the first comprehensive evaluation of the Indian guar agro-commodity market based on a large-scale case study of Rama Gum Industries India Ltd. As the industry has a substantial economic influence and rising world demand for guar derivatives, this paper also provides the significant issues that will limit its full growth and sustainability. The study is essential to investigate four critical areas of concern: the endemic price volatility, i.e., volatile and unreliable price changes, that influence stakeholder profitability and investment
the intrinsic supply chain paradoxes of farm practice, post-harvest handling, transport infrastructure, and information asymmetry
the regulatory nuances, including analysis of the effects of governmental policy, trade policy, and quality control measure on industry business and competitiveness
and the dynamic critical sustainability issues, e.g., environmental such as water usage, land degradation, and waste management, and social such as farmer livelihood and sourcing ethics. The research process is laborious in determining the order of the facts of the data required to make it work. It involves careful surfing through secondary sources of information, i.e., research studies, interviews and literature reviews, to discover something about the Indian guar industry in general. Besides, research involves sorting through bare facts about Rama Gum Industries India Ltd., i.e., working numbers, financial information, internal analysis, and even interviewing top management. Case study research permits the preparation of an in-depth presentation of corporate culture issues and a pointer of actions taken by Rama Gum to reduce its footprint. The research would determine the two issues' generic causes and spillover effects, providing evidence of their inter-linkages and mutual impact on the industry's efficiency, quality level, and global perception. Finally, in the latter part of this interim report, an endeavour has been made to form a reasonable basis to make sharp and actionable strategic recommendations. These recommendations would be made to other allied industries such as guar processing units, policymakers, and research institutions to enhance the operating efficiency of value chain, following the high quality standard demanded in the foreign market, enhancement of society's culture and environment friendly mass scale business, and finally enhancement of global long term competitiveness and responsiveness of Indian guar industries. The study's results direct subsequent policy intervention and study towards an even better, stable, and sustainable Indian guar agro-commodity sector
