Small businesses are key to economic growth as they are involved in creating jobs and sustaining economies in surrounding neighbourhoods. Accessing funds is one major issue for them. Traditional banks had strict lending criteria requiring them to have collateral and credit history, and, as owners in many cases, they did not have them, especially in rural and underserved areas. The lack of funds prevents them from expanding their businesses, investing in technology and improving productivity. Microfinance organisations have risen as a possible substitute for this circumstance since they offer loans, credit, savings and other financial products to entrepreneurs who could not reach mainstream banking. Microfinance has proven to be instrumental in empowering small businesses since it offers them much-desired funds for investing in raw materials, infrastructure and employees. Training, financial literacy, making financial decisions, and running businesses were some of the most important aspects of microfinance programs. Some research has suggested that while microfinance supports enterprises, it does not necessarily lead to helping enterprises and sustainable outcomes in the long term based on constraints. It was essential to understand the overall effect of microfinance on small enterprises to enhance its effectiveness and usability. The goal was to explore how microfinance institutions contribute to small businesses' growth and evaluate the pros and cons associated with the service. By studying microfinance research, we learned how to improve this institution to support small businesses better and boost economic growth. This helped them provide better service.
