Abstract

Description

It is widely believed that birds of a feather flock together, which implies that even strangers are more attracted to each other when they have similar attitudes. In the seminar on ‘Remembering Munshi Premchand’, Professor Ramadhar Singh, Distinguished University Professor, Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad University, further explores this phenomenon while discussing how Munshi Premchand’s work has influenced him, and delivering an inspiring message from his life as a student and academician. He goes on to show that the positive causal relation between attitude similarity and interpersonal attraction is not as simple as it seems. Ideas of some of these mechanisms of similarity-attraction from stories and novels written by Hindi writer Munshi Premchand (1880–1936) are carefully and liberally cited. The seminar was held on August 25, 2021, in Hybrid Mode.
