In this session of the Seminar and lecture Series, Dr Anita L. Allen, Henry R. Silverman Professor of Law and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania discussed the significance of “privacy” as both a philosophical and legal concept. Her work on privacy has been cited by the Supreme Court in the Puttaswamy vs. Union of India (Aadhaar) case. It showed the value of academic philosophical works in clarifying different aspects of the concept of privacy. Dr Allen was joined by Shyam Divan, the lead counsel in the Aadhaar case, who shared his insights on the power exercised by different institutions like the state, the market and the judiciary in the implementation of Aadhaar.en_US
