Abstract

Crossing the Meal Gap for PG Residents is a strategic plan designed to overcome the food and lifestyle challenges of students and working professionals residing in Paying Guest (PG) across urban India. This segment of population usually faces limited options of fresh, hygienic, and affordable foods that are in line with their hectic lifestyles and limited purse strings. This initiative provides a web and mobile-based portal that serves home-style, healthy meals crafted by food experts and nutritionists. These meals are cooked in hygienic, professionally operated cloud kitchens with guarantees of quality, consistency, and safety. By availing oneself of the infrastructure cost of dine-ins, the model of the cloud kitchen enables quicker operations and lower prices, which straightaway benefit the end user. The solution includes prominent features such as personalized meal plans, delivery tracking in real time, intelligent meal suggestions based on meal preferences, and streamlined subscription system. The solution also helps minimize wastage of food by applying demand forecasting algorithms that are a double benefit to efficiency and sustainability. Design process was guided by one-to-one interactions and feedback from PG residents of metro cities. Learnings derived through structured interviews and surveys helped in giving top priority to essential features like cost, familiarity with taste, and delivery speed so the final solution would be tightly mapped against user needs. By offering healthy food with the love of the home, the project not only makes the daily life of PG dwellers simpler but also their minds with emotional wellness. Its emphasis on sustainable and community-based growth is further strengthened through its reliance on eco-friendly packaging material as well as local vendors.
