Establishing a supply chain network for a dairy business

Abstract

A dairy company's ability to succeed depends on building a robust and effective supply chain network. The goal of this capstone project is to create a thorough plan for creating a supply chain network that can efficiently support a dairy company's activities. The study starts out by examining the dairy industry's current situation and the particular difficulties dairy companies have in managing their supply networks. After that, it looks at cutting edge methods and new developments in the management of the dairy supply chain, with particular attention to topics like inventory control, logistics, procurement, and strategic alliances. The project examines the supply chain needs of a Affinity dairy company using a case study methodology, accounting for variables such production capacity, geographic distribution, product perishability, and consumer demand. The study suggests an ideal supply chain network design that strikes a compromise between cost effectiveness, responsiveness, and resilience based on this analysis. The network design takes into account the distribution channels, warehouse locations, means of transportation, and supplier selection. The report also discusses the organizational and technology enablers—such as data analytics, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and change management techniques—that are needed to put the suggested supply chain network into practice. Ultimately, the project offers a plan for the gradual adoption of the suggested supply chain network and assesses the possible operational and financial advantages of it.
