Logistical mapping for ajanta trading and co.

Abstract

This study addresses the logistical inefficiencies faced by Ajanta Trading and Co., a ceramic tile and sanitary ware supplier in Gandhinagar, India. The company’s reliance on manual operations and paper-based documentation has led to delays, inaccurate inventory management, and suboptimal delivery performance. To tackle these challenges, the research employs agent-based simulation modeling using AnyLogic software to replicate real-world logistics dynamics and test optimization strategies. Key data—such as delivery times, inventory levels, transport routes, and workforce utilization—were analyzed to identify bottlenecks. Two simulation models were developed: one reflecting current operations and another incorporating a strategic warehouse relocation. The results demonstrated significant cost savings, improved delivery efficiency, and enhanced customer satisfaction. A cost-benefit analysis revealed that relocating Warehouse 8 could save over ₹1.34 crore annually, with a break-even period of approximately 5.2 to 7.9 years depending on investment scenarios. The study concludes that simulation modeling is a powerful tool for supply chain optimization, offering actionable insights and supporting data-driven decision-making in complex logistics environments.
