Bridging gaps: a study of teach for india

Abstract

Our capstone project is centered on supporting Teach for India. This non-profit organization provides quality education by recruiting interested fellows with a graduate degree for a two-year teaching commitment in government and low-income private schools. Through an in-depth understanding of the organization's work culture, data-driven strategies, and a program impact assessment, our project seeks to drive meaningful change and growth for Teach for India, its fellows, and the students they serve. Our approach encompasses the following key components: ● Understanding Work Culture and Recruitment Enhancement: We analyze the work culture at Teach for India, collaborating closely with their staff to recognize the desired qualities for recruitment. This initial phase seeks young potential fellow graduates with these desired attributes, facilitating the expansion of Teach for India's fellowship program. ● Research and Data-Driven Strategies: Our project is committed to conducting exhaustive research and data analysis to boost Teach for India's market reach and comprehension of factors influencing students' decisions to enter the social sector. We aim to increase awareness of Teach for India in regions where low-income and government schools experience teacher shortages, encouraging more individuals to participate in the fellowship program. ● Assessing Scope and Impact: An integral aspect of our project involves evaluating the effectiveness of Teach for India's programs and identifying areas for improvement. We employ diverse research methodologies to gather valuable insights guiding program enhancements, including surveys, focus groups, and stakeholder interviews with students, teachers, and Teach for India fellows. ● Increasing Visibility and Quality Education: Our project aims to increase Teach for India's visibility, particularly among individuals aged 20-30, while elevating the quality of education provided. Our commitment to quality improvement extends to fellows' professional development and the educational experience of the students they serve.
