Description

In this session of The Conversation Series, we discussed the steady increase of women voters in India with Professor Shamika Ravi, Non-resident Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution, Washington DC, Vice President, Economic Policy, Observer Research Foundation, and Former Member, PM’s Economic Advisory Council, India. Professor Ravi spoke about the Bihar Assembly elections and how women voters led to bringing the government into power. She compared data since the 1950s and graphed out the surge in women voters and the factors that have led to this increase. Here she is in conversation with Professor Patrick French, Dean, School of Arts and Sciences, and Professor for the Public Understanding of the Humanities, Ahmedabad University.
