This research paper is inclined towards investigating the factors contributing to the failure of apparel startups rather than focusing solely on success factors for several compelling reasons. Firstly, while there substantial research exists on successful apparel startups, there is a notable dearth of comprehensive statistical data and empirical evidence regarding the failure rates and reasons behind startup failures, particularly in regions like Gujarat, known for their textile expertise. The literature review emphasizes the multitude of challenges faced by fashion entrepreneurs, ranging from a lack of business acumen and financial instability to unreliable business contacts and production limitations. These challenges underscore the complexities and uncertainties inherent in the startup journey, making it imperative to understand why startups fail despite possessing potentially valuable resources or innovative ideas. Focusing on failure factors, this research aims to uncover systemic issues, structural deficiencies, and external pressures that impede startup success, facilitating a more nuanced understanding of the startup ecosystem. Examining failure factors can inform strategic decision-making and risk mitigation strategies for aspiring entrepreneurs and existing startups. Understanding the pitfalls and common hurdles faced by apparel startups can lead to the development of targeted support mechanisms, mentorship programs, and industry interventions aimed at fostering resilience, enhancing adaptability, and promoting sustainable growth among startups. The emphasis on failure factors does not negate the importance of success factors but rather complements it by providing a holistic perspective on the dynamics of startup performance.
