Social-emotional learning implementation in schools and universities

Abstract

Through this capstone project, our team wants to investigate the influence of social emotional learning (SEL) methodologies on the student’s academic success and well being of personality and self during primary education. The research and analysis try to figure out the significance of SEL in education and how it contributes to developing self-awareness, emotional intelligence, self-control, interpersonal skills, etc. within the students. With the help of extensive literature, interviews, and data analysis, the study aims to acknowledge the efficacy of Social-Emotional Learning in diversified educational and schooling settings. The project also tries to highlight that significant schooling and education focuses on the academic growth of the students, and amongst grades and exams, the emotional development of a child is lost. It also creates an impact during the transition of the student from school to university. Thus, the project wants to understand the role of parents, educators, and society in-large for supporting and fostering SEL programs and initiatives for the children and nurturing the learning environment. Through this research, we as a capstone team want to highlight the importance of SEL for a growing child and provide proof-based suggestions and recommendations for policymakers, stakeholders, parents, educators, and each individual of the society to practice SEL-based education and promote holistic development of the student right from kindergarten.
