| dc.description.abstract | Semiconductors are the backbone of contemporary technological innovations that power computer science, telecommunications, and other emerging technologies. As the production of semiconductors becomes more sophisticated, global, and material-dependent, the role of logistics systems has grown from merely supporting manufacturing to becoming a crucial determinant of manufacturing efficiency. However, the evolution of logistics systems, particularly the emergence of cold chain logistics in controlling material stability, has received limited scholarly attention. Therefore, this paper examines the intersection of semiconductor manufacturing and logistics systems, particularly the emergence of controlled and cold chain logistics developed alongside technological advancements.Adopting a systematic review based on PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this study synthesises multidisciplinary research on semiconductor supply chains, logistics transformation, and cold chain logistics. The findings indicate that logistics has become a key element influencing yields, process control, and competitiveness due to miniaturisation, material fragility, and supply chain fragmentation. The study further shows that cold chain logistics emerges as an advanced stage of controlled logistics systems. The study contributes by developing a co-evolutionary model integrating the Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework with Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) theory. Practically, it highlights the need for resilient and standardised logistics systems and improved policy coordination. Overall, the study reinterprets logistics as critical infrastructure influencing yield and resilience. © 2026 Elsevier Ltd.
