| dc.description.abstract | The lack of periodic inspections and poor cleansing of gutter lines leads to major clogs and leaks, which in turn cause the malfunctioning of sewage lines. Eventually, this ends up digging up the roads and doing the maintenance work, which costs time, human potential and governmental funds. This problem could have been suppressed by regular inspection of major sewage pipelines. To address this specific issue, our capstone project primarily focuses on developing a robot which inspects sewage pipelines and makes us aware of the ground reality. By integrating Inspection cameras (that take the live feed) and a set of LEDs (that supports the inspection in dark sewage lines), we aim to inspect and identify defects systematically. This will help to mitigate the risks and reduce the possible pipeline failures and the need for manual interventions. Additionally, this project is a foundation to make the urban sanitation system sustainable by implementing such sewage management methods. By evaluating this project, we will be going through societal benefits and financial considerations. Moreover, it will provide valuable insights into an effective and efficient system for sewage management. By providing this technological solution to current sewage maintenance problems, our project tries to ease the burden on manual scavengers and serves a broader aspect, eliminating this notion of manual scavenging, which is a curse to societal justice as well as scavengers' health. | |
