Abstract
In an increasingly competitive and resource-constrained environment, non-profit organizations (NPOs) face mounting challenges in engaging, retaining, and expanding their donor base. This capstone project, conducted in collaboration with the Swa Sarjan Foundation — a Gujarat-based NGO committed to the education and empowerment of underprivileged communities — explores the transformative potential of data-driven donor engagement strategies. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines qualitative interviews and quantitative donor data analysis, the study identifies patterns, motivations, and demographic trends influencing donation behavior. A customizable analytical dashboard was developed to provide actionable insights into donor segmentation, campaign timing, and resource allocation. Grounded in stakeholder theory, resource-based view (RBV), and behavioral economics, the project highlights the importance of integrating data analytics into fundraising and marketing efforts to create more effective, scalable, and sustainable donor engagement models for Indian non-profits. The recommendations offer a roadmap for improving donor retention, enhancing campaign efficiency, and ultimately supporting the long-term financial health and social impact of organizations like the Swa Sarjan Foundation. 4
