Drivers of indian garment export globally: study of textile export cluster focusing on gujarat

Abstract

This Capstone Project addresses the challenges faced during the export by the small textile businesses of Gujarat. “The reason we took Gujarat state is because Gujarat has many government advantages, still it is at the 5-6th rank for textile exporting (referring to the data from ProwessIQ).” We have developed a comprehensive guide to equip them with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the export process successfully. Through the data of all Indian companies, we have identified the Top 5 states that are doing significantly great in textile exports, as well as each state's top performing company. With the best five companies, we want to show what these companies follow in order to be successful not only in domestic sales but also in international sales. Additionally, we conducted interviews with those who already are into exporting as well as those who are facing challenges with exports. By analyzing these interviews, we were able to identify key pain points hindering export endeavors. The insights from the data of companies as well as from interviews, we formulated a set of practical recommendations to guide small businesses through the export process. These recommendations tackle the gaps that we identified through interviews and these gaps are, Lack of Knowledge, Language Barriers, Difficulty in finding potential customers, and Challenges faced with the government paperwork. This guide will help them search for new markets, learn what documents are required and what potential risk they may face during the export process so that they make informed decisions and overcome common challenges associated with exporting. Also, provide them with the information on what to do with the non-payment for your product.
