Abstract
Description
In this session of The Conversation Series, Professor Mekhala Krishnamurthy, Senior Fellow, Centre for Policy Research, Associate Professor of Sociology & Social Anthropology, Ashoka University, speaks with Professor Karthik Rao-Cavale, Assistant Professor in the Division of Social Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University, on ‘The Framing of Farming: An Interdisciplinary Exploration Into Agriculture, Farmers, Markets, And Reforms’. Professor Krishnamurthy brings an interdisciplinary perspective – cutting across sociology, anthropology, economics, and politics – on agricultural markets and reforms. She addresses the why and the how of where we are on agriculture policy, farm laws, and farmer protests. She delves into the situation of agriculture and farmers, the recent laws and, more importantly, how the agricultural sector will dig itself out of the current impasse.
