Abstract
This project has been undertaken by us, a team of six students which focuses mainly on identifying critical gaps and proposing possible solutions for managing Construction and Demolition waste efficiently in India. This project analyses the current approaches to C&D waste management by highlighting recycling rates, waste segregation and also lacking the public awareness. The project focuses to promote effective waste segregation, improvement in waste processing and reduction in dependence on landfills through means of onsite research, policy analysis and proposing a business model. We also proposed public awareness campaign which demonstrates how cost-effective behavioural interventions can improve on-site waste segregation. To connect stakeholders with each other with various benefits, an online C&D waste Management portal (PPP model) was created. This project also included gathering data from stakeholders through a questionnaire. It also included Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis while analysing the primary and secondary data. While doing secondary data analysis, we used comparative Analysis and benchmarking. The study aims to determine the best practices, adapt them to local conditions and offer solutions for improving the waste management into a more efficient system by supporting a circular economy. The final deliverable is a blueprint for effective C&D waste management.
