Abstract

This capstone project explores strategic business planning for Kolvy LLC, a co-living startup entering the Indian market, specifically Ahmedabad. As urban housing preferences shift toward affordability, flexibility, and community-driven living, co-living spaces have emerged as a viable alternative to traditional rentals. The study investigates the market dynamics, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape of the co-living sector in India, aiming to craft actionable strategies for Kolvy’s successful market entry and growth. Using a combination of exploratory and descriptive research, the team conducted surveys and analyzed data from 200 respondents to understand key decision-making factors such as pricing, safety, amenities, lease flexibility, and technology integration. The findings reveal that millennials and Gen Z, particularly students and young professionals, prioritize convenience, digital engagement, and community experiences in their housing choices. The report identifies gaps in existing offerings, such as limited food quality, lack of tech-enabled services, and rigid lease terms, and proposes tailored solutions to address these unmet needs. Through factor analysis and hypothesis testing, the study validates the influence of demographic variables on consumer preferences and highlights the importance of branding, operational efficiency, and customer-centric design. Ultimately, this project delivers a comprehensive blueprint for Kolvy LLC to differentiate itself in a saturated market, build trust, and foster long-term tenant loyalty—laying the foundation for scalable success in India’s evolving co-living ecosystem.
