Multi Service Company: A Personalized, On-Demand Home Services Platform for Urban India.

Abstract

This capstone project focuses on the structural inefficiency of the Indian urban market of home services and suggests Multi Service Company, a personalized, subscription-based business model with the aim to fulfill the unmet household services needs. The demand of effective, professional and integrated services in the home environment is becoming more pressing with the proliferation of nuclear families, the growth of dual-income families and urbanization of people who rely more on external service providers. This research was a mixed-method study, involving both primary and secondary data sources: primary data samples consisting of structured survey questionnaires of 150 individuals, the sample of which represents the main demographics of the urban population, and secondary data based on the existing literature on the industry and on the market research. Some of the key areas of enquiry are consumer pain points, willingness-to-pay behavior, service demand patterns, subscription model design, financial viability and labor strategy. The results indicate that the major obstacles to consumer adoption are reliability, professionalism, and safety. The project illustrates how a well-organized, technology-based subscription model could be successfully used to remake the broken ecosystem of home services into a scalable trust-based, and commercially viable platform.
