In the field of nanotechnology and cancer research, Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs) have gained recognition due to their biocompatibility, controlled release potential, and enhanced cellular uptake, helping them be an efficient nanocarrier system for delivery of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs. The present study tries to formulate and study the efficiency of Everolimus-loaded SLNs for targeted drug delivery in breast cancer. Everolimus is an mTOR inhibitor because of its anti-proliferative and anti-angiogenic properties. It has been encapsulated into SLNs to improve the specificity and reduce off-target effects. These SLNs have been characterized by employing techniques like Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) for particle size, morphology, and drug encapsulation efficiency. An in-vitro toxicity assessment was done via an MTT assay, and an assessment of cell migration was done via scratch assay as a functional indicator of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) behaviour. The findings of the study indicate that a defined inhibitory effect was seen in the case of cancer cell viability and migration when drug-loaded SLNs were employed. This is a positive confirmation of the ability of SLNs to act as effective nanocarriers for breast cancer therapy treatment to enhance drug delivery and influence critical processes like cell motility and invasiveness.
