This paper provides a detailed overview of the core problem, its vital solutions and behavioral interventional frameworks intended to transition the culturally rich celebrations at the Indian Weddings towards a sustainable model with zero food waste. The approach includes use of carefully considered, non-coercive modifications to environmental design. The Subtle Plate uses Nudge theory, Social Norms theory, and Theory of Planned Behavior, all based on behavioural economics principles, to influence buffet-level guest choices regarding consumption through modest, contextual design interventions.
