Addressing traffic problems of ahmedabad city

Abstract

“Commuters waste an average of 54 hours a year stalled in traffic” (Willingham, 2019). “ Approximately 1.19 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes” (Road Traffic Injuries, 2023). The research understands the importance of these issues and addresses traffic problems of congestion and accidents in Ahmedabad city. The city population is over 8 million (Ahmedabad Population 2024, n.d.). The growing use of machine learning and artificial intelligence creates prospects for futuristic solutions to urban difficulties such as parking, vendor space, and road safety. This thesis investigates the viewpoints of people, vendors, and administrators in Ahmedabad on these concerns and the gaps between current practices and real-world behaviours. We can close these gaps by using technology and changes in policy and behaviour to build a safer, more efficient urban environment. This study's approach involves the use of officially provided information from the Ahmedabad Traffic Police Department, as well as secondary and primary data sources. We hope to gain a better understanding of the complex opinions on urban difficulties and safety concerns by conducting surveys and questionnaires with people and administrators alike. This thorough approach allows for a holistic investigation of the challenges, contributing to the creation of worked solutions. The research results saw that actual ground situations difference from on paper policy. This issues and gaps needs to addressed to solve traffic problems of ahmedabad.
